The Bike Tailor is a fitting studio first and a bike shop second. Everything begins on the jig at The Shed in Stanmer, on the edge of the South Downs, where more than fifteen years of fitting experience is brought to bear before a frame is ever specified.
The studio runs Velogic 3D motion capture, Body Rocket force measurement at the saddle and pedals, and Gebiomized saddle pressure mapping, alongside custom insole fitting and wind tunnel sessions at the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub. Fits run from a one-hour sizing to a three-hour Pro fit, and are offered in London as well as Brighton.
Custom builds follow in carbon, steel and titanium, with servicing and repairs alongside. Their frame partners read like a list of the people who still build one bicycle at a time — Baum, Mosaic, Pegoretti, Parlee, Festka — and SWI.
They will not sell you a frame before they have measured you on it — which is the right order for a bicycle laid up around one rider.
